A Michelin-star Restaurant in Paris You Must Go

Last week, I focused on the restaurant's interior, so this week I will put the focus back on food.

Paris is a city of great food. As I went to some amazing restaurants during my trip, I'd like to share my experiences with you all in the next few weeks.

First, let me introduce you to a Michelin-star restaurant which is on my favourite list. This small but elegant restaurant serves great food with interesting presentation. It has been one of Paris' hot spot in the culinary scene in the past year.

Let's go through the pictures before I reveal the restaurant name!!

I had the pleasure of having been to the same restaurant in Hong Kong, which was recently opened in November 2013. According to the staff that night in Paris, the chef has decided to incorporate a few of the same dishes:

Amuse bouche from Paris
Here is Hong Kong version.
Notice the difference in the plating.
However, the dishes are the same:
Both were delicious!

These are layers of cheeses and mushrooms soaked in Asian broth, which I felt was very creative and offered a unique blend of Asian and French taste:

Other highlights from Paris dinner:

This is the lobster dish. Check out all the effort just for two little pieces of lobster!!

They poured the boiling soup into a glass pot
to cook the lobsters..
then they let it sit for at least 5-10 minutes...prior to plating
Lobsters go on the plates;
The tasty broth collected in the espresso cup..
umm...look mysterious...
Viola. Smoked fish cooked with moss on top..
(Chef said they were collected fresh from the forest, no kidding!!)
Tasted like fish with moss, just in case you were wondering....
then they placed it on the plate with rest of the pretty garnishes.
Gin-infused ice meant to be a palate cleanser..
followed by a jasmine sorbet with a drop of lemon cream!
Pigeon with grilled and pureed pumpkin

Finally.... Dessert time!!

Another mysterious surprises...
ummm...
It was a smoked charcoal pineapple (on the right)!
This is the version from Hong Kong (minus the theatrics)

Back to Paris

Introducing us to the evening's fruits, coffee beans, and tea selection
followed by complimentary dessert from the chef.

Finally wrapping up the night with coffee in Paris

This is Restaurant Akrame in Arr. 8. Chef Akrame is a very nice guy. He came to greet us and talked to us many times that night. We had small talks about the food and his potential future business prospect of his restaurant. Although the restaurant is quite small and unlike your typical Paris dinning room, it did not take away from the fine dinning experience (which, from the service and presentation, was exquisite). Not to mention we ordered a 5-course menu, but we had over ten courses that night!

Oh, did I mention I have also been to the Hong Kong location? Yes I did. Chef Akrame opened a second location in late Nov 2013! Although the Hong Kong location offers a more high-end dinning area, the Paris location is far more professional in term of food quality, food presentation and service!

But do stop by the Hong Kong location if you get a chance, because it is much cheaper than the Paris location!

Hope you all enjoy my blog this week : )
